High School Tennis court dimensions High school tennis: Coronado tennis players have high hopes for state tennis tourney May 29, 2016 The Coronado High School tennis program has certainly achieved a great deal over the years in terms of district titles, trips to the team state tournament and plenty of individual success in the spring.
The overall size of a tennis doubles court is 36 feet wide by 78 feet long. The singles court is slightly narrower measuring 27 feet wide. Both singles and doubles courts share the same length. The service court fits inside the singles width of the court (27 feet wide) and extends back from the net 21 feet.
2.5.2 Court Area Dimensions (fence to fence). The official Championship court area will be not less than: 36.57m (length) x 18.30m (width) For normal competition play, these dimensions may be reduced to not less than: 33.50m (length) x 16.40m (width).
Measuring 78’ (23.77 m) by 36’ (11 m) for doubles or 27’ (8.2 m) for singles, tennis courts have an overall playing area of 2,808 ft2 (260.9 m2). To ensure the safety of the players as they chase balls outside the court boundaries, a clearance space of 21’ (6.4 m) should be provided beyond the baselines and 12’ (3.66 m) for the sides.
