When designing an indoor basketball court, the height of the ceiling must be at least 16 feet. With a regulation rim resting 10 feet above the floor, there must be adequate space for the ball to reach the basket without the ceiling interfering with play. If the structure permits, it is best to aim for a peak ceiling height of 20 feet or more.

The official size of a high school full court is 50 feet in width by 84 feet in length, so the idea was to be able to easily fit in a half court of 42’ x 50’. Our ceiling height is at the bare minimum required for playing hoops at 16’. If I had it to do over again, I would have made the area 60’ x 72’ with a 20 foot height ceiling.
The distance from the gym floor to the rim is 10 feet. This rim height is the same for Junior High, High School, NCAA, WNBA, FIBA, and the NBA. Some kids’ leagues will lower the hoop to 8 feet or 9 feet to acknowledge that younger kids have difficulty shooting at 10 feet high hoops.
A FIBA court (used during international play such as the Olympics) is 91.86 feet long and 49.21 feet wide. How Tall is a Basketball Hoop?
Basketball Court Height The courts’ height may differ for any of the reasons, but the minimum size of the court should be 24 feet, but if it is to be less than this so in that case, at least the height should be not less than 20 feet.
34.5 x 20 m 4-court sports halls can accommodate the preferred PPA court size and run offs for club/community/ training level of play. This has been a lot of fun and challenging. Indoor basketball court dimensions are about 30x35 with ceiling height at a minimum of 17 high. These dimension and height specifications mean many house plans with indoor basketball courts are for larger homes, but we’ve also built homes with basketball courts under the garage.
